The partners and associates here at Raza & Jones, LLC, recently marked five years as a female-owned and operated family law firm serving the greater St. Louis area. We focus on issues such as legal separation, divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, modifications and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. Founding members Sophya Qureshi Raza and Stephanie L. Jones took a moment to reflect on our firm’s history and milestones.
Raza, Jones, and Associates Kayte Rossi and Sarah Wittrock share a desire to help people through times of great stress and uncertainty. For many people, Sophy notes, family-related legal matters may be the only reasons they ever need to hire an attorney. “No matter the circumstances,” Sophy says, “all of us here at Raza & Jones strive to provide compassionate, effective representation for our clients, including spouses, former spouses, parents, same-sex partners, and anyone else in need of legal counsel.”
“We know clients are coming to us at a time of need, and they may have no idea what to expect,” adds Stephanie. “We work to make the process as clear and easy as possible.”
Accomplishments & Milestones
Founding members establish the law firm of Raza & Jones, LLC.
Sophy Raza has practiced family law since 2002. Initially, she focused exclusively on traditional family law court litigation, but that began to evolve after several years of practice.
“I have come to the realization that while some cases must be litigated in court, there are many situations that can be efficiently and effectively resolved outside of the courtroom,” Sophy says. “With this in mind, I also began working as a family law mediator and a Collaborative family law attorney.
Founding member Stephanie Jones has practiced family law for over a decade. “I’ve focused my legal career on complex divorce cases,” she notes. “It is not uncommon for a family law case to involve questions about taxes, valuation of a business or practice, child custody, estate planning, and accounting concepts. Our practice offers the most comprehensive approach to all of your family law needs and goals.”
Having previously worked for Sophy Raza, Sarah J. Wittrock joined the firm, taking a leap of faith, believing in what the founders were building. “I have the privilege of helping people get through what is often one of the most difficult times in their lives,” says Sarah. She earned her certification as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) in order to ensure that children’s best interests are fairly represented in the midst of difficult custody trials.
Sophy and Stephanie feel deeply honored that the firm has consistently been recognized as a leading law firm in its specialty.
Recently, Raza & Jones, LLC earned top honors for Family Law and Family Law Mediation for the 5th consecutive year, as ranked in the 2021 edition of the U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best Law Firms” list.
“It means a great deal to us,” Sophy notes, “because this award is based on a rigorous, nationwide peer review process, in which leading lawyers evaluate the professional abilities of their colleagues at thousands of firms.”
Sophy herself was named 2017 Lawyer of the Year in the areas of Collaborative Law and Family Law by the 2021 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Lawyers guide. She has been named for seven consecutive years on the publication’s “Best Lawyers” list for Family Law and Collaborative Law: Family Law, and Family Law Mediation.
Stephanie earned the prestigious Best Lawyers award for Family Law for the sixth consecutive year from 2021 U.S News & World Report’s Best Lawyers list. In addition, she has been a featured speaker on legal topics, such as presenting at the MO-AFCC Fall Conference in 2018.
The practice expands, hiring Associate Kayte E. Rossi.
Kayte specializes in family law and helping our clients navigate, “complex family dynamics and emotionally charged issues,” Kayte explains.
Kayte Rossi and Sarah Wittrock were named “Rising Stars” by the prestigious 2021 U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Lawyers” review. They’ve both also received Rising Star honors from SuperLawyers.com.
“We look forward to serving our clients’ needs long into the future,” Sophy Raza concludes. “We know that this past year has been especially challenging for many of our clients. As an essential business we have continued to be available to our clients through a variety of means, and we will continue to do so.”
